Foam Square Profile is a 30mm x 30mm closed-cell foam backer rod for precast panel and formwork joints, supplied in 2.4m lengths with a self-adhesive strip along one edge. A joint sealed without a backer rod uses more sealant than it needs to and gives the bead nothing to key against, which shortens the life of the seal. This backer rod debonds the base of the joint so the sealant only bonds to the two side faces, which is what lets the bead flex properly as the joint moves instead of tearing at the base. The adhesive strip holds the foam in place in the joint before the panel goes up, and the foam compresses to conform to the joint shape once it's fitted. It's supplied 25 lengths to the bundle, and precast and formwork crews use it ahead of sealant application on panel joints in residential and commercial builds.
