SmartRib Concrete Stop End solves the problem of forming a construction joint that bonds properly to the next pour, without the labour of scabbling the joint face afterwards. A plain timber or ply stop end leaves a smooth face that has to be roughened up before the next pour goes in, and skipping that step weakens the bond between the two pours. SmartRib is a galvanised steel mesh sheet stiffened with roll-formed ribs that stays in the concrete permanently, so there's no stripping and no surface prep before the next pour, the mesh itself provides the shear key. The open mesh also reduces the pressure the formwork has to hold back compared to a solid sheet, and reinforcing can be pushed straight through the mesh openings rather than needing pre-drilled holes. Each sheet measures 2250mm x 450mm at 0.4mm thickness, and cuts to size on site with standard tin snips or shears. Concrete crews use it to form construction joints and stop ends in slabs, walls and other sequential concrete pours.
