SKU: 44-BLACKPLAS-50
Powerpac Black Polythene 4m x 50m 250 micron is a heavy duty LDPE/LLDPE film used as an under-slab damp-proof membrane and for general site surface protection. Laid between the ground and a concrete slab, it blocks ground moisture from migrating up into the structure. Without it, rising moisture feeds mould and mildew and damages flooring laid over the slab.
When used as a damp-proof membrane, this film is installed in accordance with NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1 clause 10.303. The base must be prepared to NZS 3604:1990 clause E8.2, and installation must be carried out by a Licensed Building Practitioner. The membrane must not be left exposed for more than 28 days before the slab is poured.
Outside of DPM use, the same 250 micron film works as general builders plastic for ground cover and dust screening, where these compliance requirements do not apply. Each roll is 4m wide by 50m long, covering 200m², which is the size most crews order for larger sites. Builders and concreters use it across residential and commercial sites in New Zealand.

About Polythene - 4m x 50m x 250 micron - Black
Powerpac Black Polythene 250 micron is used as an under-slab damp-proof membrane and as general builders plastic for ground cover and dust screening on construction sites.
Yes. When installed as a damp-proof membrane it must comply with NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1 clause 10.303. The base must be prepared to NZS 3604:1990 clause E8.2, and the work must be carried out by a Licensed Building Practitioner.
Installation as a damp-proof membrane must be carried out by a Licensed Building Practitioner, free of tears. This requirement applies to DPM use under a slab, not to general surface protection uses such as ground cover or dust screening.
When used as a damp-proof membrane, the film must not be left exposed for more than 28 days before the concrete slab is placed.
This roll is 4m wide by 50m long, covering 200m² per roll, the size most crews order for larger sites. Powerpac also stocks a 4m x 25m roll covering 100m².
The film is 250 micron thick, a heavy duty gauge that takes foot traffic and site handling without tearing the way lighter builders film does.
Yes. The same film is commonly used as general builders plastic for ground cover, dust containment during strip-out, overspray protection during painting, and landscaping. These general uses are not subject to the DPM installation requirements.
The film is made from LDPE/LLDPE polythene with a minimum of 90% recycled content.
Yes. On New Zealand sites, this film is commonly called builders plastic. When it is installed as an under-slab damp-proof membrane it is also called a DPM or vapour barrier, and the compliance requirements for that specific use apply.
