Velcro Hook Tape PSA is a 50mm wide pressure-sensitive adhesive hook tape for anchoring temporary floor protection to carpeted surfaces during construction and fitout. The hook fibres grip the carpet pile mechanically on contact, securing the edges of protective sheeting, matting, and board without the adhesive residue that carpet films and double-sided tapes leave behind.
Temporary floor protection on carpet moves. Polyweave sheets, plastic film, flute board, and foam matting all shift under foot traffic unless their edges are anchored at the perimeter and across doorways. Standard double-sided tape sticks to the carpet itself and leaves adhesive residue or pulls fibres on removal. Hook tape removes cleanly because it grips the carpet mechanically — the hook structure catches the carpet pile the same way hook-and-loop fastening works, with no adhesive contact between the tape and the carpet fibres.
The tape uses a high-tack synthetic rubber and resin PSA backing to bond the hook layer to the floor protection material. Initial grip is reached within 5 minutes of pressing into the carpet pile. Full strength cures after 24 hours. On NZ and AU construction sites it is also known as carpet grip tape or carpet anchor tape. Interior fitout contractors, carpet layers, and site managers on commercial fitout and residential renovation projects use it wherever temporary floor protection on carpet must stay in position from install through to handover.

No. The hook structure grips the carpet fibres mechanically rather than adhesively, so the tape pulls away from the carpet cleanly without leaving adhesive residue. The PSA backing bonds the hook tape to the floor protection material, not to the carpet surface itself.
The hook fibres on the tape face catch and grip the loop fibres in the carpet pile on contact — the same mechanical principle as hook-and-loop fastening on clothing and gear. The more firmly the tape is pressed into the carpet, the stronger the grip. No adhesive touches the carpet at any point.
Initial grip is reached within 5 minutes of pressing the tape firmly into the carpet pile. Full bond strength develops over 24 hours. The tape can be walked on and used immediately, but avoid heavy wheeled equipment loads on the anchored edges in the first 5 minutes.
Velcro Hook Tape PSA works with polyweave sheeting, plastic film, foam matting, flute board, and most other temporary floor protection materials used on construction and fitout sites. The PSA backing bonds securely to these materials, while the hook face grips the carpet pile underneath.
Double-sided tape bonds adhesively to the carpet surface and often leaves residue or pulls carpet fibres when removed — a significant problem on high-value or sensitive carpet finishes. Hook tape performs best on loop-pile and cut-pile carpet with a visible fibre structure for the hooks to grip. Very low-pile, tightly woven, or hard-surface carpet may reduce grip. Test on a small area first on unusual carpet types and press firmly into the pile before loading.
