Contact Adhesive Tensor S20 is a 500ml aerosol contact adhesive for bonding upholstery foam, carpet, soft fabric, leather, and insulation to porous and non-porous substrates on interior fitout projects. The aerosol format delivers an even, controlled coat to both surfaces without brushing or troweling.
Bond failures on fitout sites come from two sources: the wrong adhesive for the substrate, and poor tack timing. Foam lifts off panels. Carpet shifts before it sets. Insulation pulls away from framing. Tensor S20 uses high-solids, pressure-sensitive technology that forms a contact bond the moment two coated surfaces are pressed together. No clamping is needed. Tack is reached in 1 to 2 minutes after application.
Known on NZ job sites as contact glue or spray adhesive, Tensor S20 is specified by interior finishing contractors, upholsterers, carpet layers, and insulation crews on commercial fitout projects for fast, reliable bonding across foam, fabric, carpet, leather, and plastic substrates. The cured bond is water resistant, heat resistant, and carries a Class 1 fire rating.

About Contact Adhesive Tensor S20 - 500ml
Tensor S20 bonds foam, upholstery fabric, carpet, soft fabric, leather, most hard plastics, insulation quilt and slab, and decorative materials to porous substrates including plywood, MDF, and chipboard, as well as non-porous surfaces. Tensor S20 is not recommended for decorative high-pressure laminate applications subject to high temperatures.
Yes. Contact glue, spray adhesive, and contact cement are all common names for the same category of product that Tensor S20 belongs to. Tensor S20 is a high-solids aerosol contact adhesive, meaning both surfaces are coated, allowed to reach tack, then pressed together to form an immediate bond without clamping.
Tensor S20 reaches tack in 1 to 2 minutes after the coat is applied to both surfaces. On porous surfaces or critical bond areas, apply a second coat of Tensor S20 after the first becomes tacky before pressing.
No clamping is required. Tensor S20 forms an immediate pressure-sensitive contact bond when two coated surfaces are pressed together. Use a roller on larger areas to ensure full surface contact and push out any air pockets.
Hold the Tensor S20 aerosol 10 to 20cm from the surface at roughly 90 degrees. Apply an even coat covering 80 to 100% of the bonding area, slightly overlapping each pass. Apply adhesive to both surfaces before pressing them together.
No. Once two Tensor S20-coated surfaces make contact, the bond is immediate and repositioning is not possible. Align the material in its final position before pressing. For complex shapes or large panels, do a dry fit before applying Tensor S20.
Tensor S20 is water resistant once cured, making it suitable for interior fitout environments with temperature variation and incidental moisture exposure. Tensor S20 is not designed for continuous water immersion or exterior use.
Yes. Tensor S20 carries a Class 1 fire rating, making it suitable for commercial interior fitout projects where fire compliance for adhesives is specified. Confirm project-specific compliance requirements with your contractor or specifier before ordering.
Tensor S20 is not recommended for decorative high-pressure laminate applications subject to high temperatures. For those applications, a dedicated laminate adhesive should be specified. Contact your Powerpac rep if you are unsure which adhesive is right for your substrate and compliance requirements.
